“Finding Your Connection with the Divine through Writing” ~ An Interview and Conversation on YouTube

I was honored to be a guest on my friend Martha Hines’ “Living the One Light” interview series. We talked about many of my favorite topics, primarily “Connecting with the Divine through Writing;” also, creating “silence, stillness and solitude,” hearing a true inner voice, the power and magic of women’s writing circles, and how I lens and guide “Divine Ink ~ Illuminating the Heroine’s Journey.” If you’re inspired, I’d love for you to listen … thank you! Love, Janet

“Divine Ink ~ Illuminating The Heroine’s Journey” : Seven-Week Online Writing Group via email ~ self-paced with reflective feedback

Date ~ TBA: Cost: $695 (Deposit ~ $195)

“Divine Ink” guides and illuminates the heroine’s journey, a universal divine feminine path, essential to women’s writing and lives. This archetypal journey, distilled into seven distinct stages, is a spiritual path and literary model based on the call to adventure, transformation, and self-discovery.

During this seven-week journey, we will articulate and affirm our individual callings as well as the collective call of women today. Together, we will set out on the heroine’s journey, each week exploring one of the seven distinct and essential stages with inspiration, guided writing activities and prompts. Women will learn to discern an authentic voice from the internalized shadows of fear and doubt, clearing obstacles that may have previously held them back; find inner and outer resources to support them through the inevitable tests and challenges of life; and discover uncertainty to be a powerful place of unforeseen possibility. Here is where we discover the “boon,” lighting the way home.

At the end of the journey, women will come home to a new knowing of themselves, the awareness that the journey is ongoing, and the map and compass within them.

“One day it’s the clouds,
one day the mountains.
One day the latest bloom
of roses—the pure monochromes,
the dazzling hybrids—inspiration
for the cathedral’s round windows.
Every now and then
there’s the splendor
of thought: the singular
idea and its brilliant retinue—
words, cadence, point of view,
little gold arrows flitting
between the lines.”

New Podcast! The Wisdom of Mermaid Dreams on “Women in Depth”

112: The Wisdom of Mermaid Dreams

I discuss my new children’s book, Mermaid Dreams, with Lourdes Viado, Phd on her program,”Women in Depth”

112: The Wisdom of Mermaid Dreams

“Mythology and storytelling are age-old methods of passing along wisdom, sharing experience, and explaining or teaching about life.”

Learning to trust your intuition, feelings, and dreams is a powerful experience.

With all the stories and lessons told to children today, our society does not seem to support the notion that women should learn to trust their intuition. This is a meaningful lesson for any woman, whether she’s a Maiden, Mother, or Crone. This is a lesson that is truly universal.

In this episode, I talk with Janet Lucy about her new children’s book Mermaid Dreams. This book encompasses many missing lessons from today’s children’s literature, while also depicting the connection between mother and daughter. Janet also shares how goddess mythology illuminates her ideas within the book.

Take a listen to learn Janet’s new book Mermaid Dreams and how this story passes along universal wisdom to women.

Some Questions I Ask:

  • What inspired you to write Mermaid Dreams? (3:14)
  • What is the significance of the Mermaid to you? (7:17)
  • How does the story in Mermaid Dreams depicts the connection between mother and daughter? (12:46)
  • What coming-of-age concepts does Mermaid Dreams address? (14:15)

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • About the story of the African goddess Yemaya. (9:12)
  • How the power to change your dreams coincides with the power you have over your psyche. (15:03)
  • How Janet’s book teaches children to go within themselves and learn to trust their inner voice. (18:00)
  • How Janet’s books apply to all women. (20:54)
  • How women’s internalized beliefs can manifest into the basis of fear. (25:15)

Summer WILD 2019 ~ Writing Group Invitation & Offerings

“Wildness
reminds us
what it means
to be human,
what we are connected to
rather than what we are
separate from.”
~ Terry Tempest Williams
~*~
“We need the tonic of wildness …
At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things,
we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable,
that land and sea be indefinitely wild,
unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable.
We can never have enough of nature.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
Eight Tuesday Mornings 10:00 ~ 12:30: Beginning July 9
Eight Thursday Mornings 10:00 ~ 12:30: Beginning July 11
